Tradition he b VA, however his Army Discharge 12-8-1864 shows him 30 years old and b Montgomery, Daviess Co IN; another rcd he b 2-17-1832; his gravestone b 1829. His gravestone he d 3-23-1911; a rcd(?) shows 3-11-1911. He d Lancaster, Atchison Co KS bur at Lancaster. Tradition he left Roanoke, Roanoke Co VA in early youth, settled in IO, enl Company I, 39th Regt IO Inf Commanded by LT R.C. Hunter 8-12-1862 Medical Discharge from svc of USA 12-8-1864 Keokuk, IO. He 5' 7 3/4" tall, blue eyes, light complex, brown hair. He a farmer when enl. Tradition his father and bros on CSA side; result family completely seperated. After disch he homestead near Lancaster, KS where lived rest of life. He m (1) Martha Callender (b 1840) 1-15-1859; she d 2-5-1892 bur Maple Grove Cemetery Effingham, Atchison Co KS. Mar (2) HelenaLouise (Kapelle) Benton (1866- 1927), a Widow. She dau HenryE Kapelle and Louise Salter, b 11-14-1866 in Denmark d 3-3-1927 at Atchison. She m (1) William Benton b 4-6-1854 KY d 12-31-1903. Daniel/Helena had no children.
